WHAT DOES A CLOSED LOOP MEAN. KNEW TO THE HOBBY.

closed loop is when the intake and the outake for the pump are connected directly to the tank. For example the intake for the pump would be coming from a drilled hole near the bottom of the tank and the output would be pumping somewhere in the upper region of the tank........

Basically it creates flow for your tank without the use of powerheads.

THANK FOR THE INFO THAT WHAT I THOUGHT.SO IF YOU HAVE A TANK THAT IS DRILLED AND ITS GRAVITEY FEED TO THE SUMP.AND THE RETURN PUMP GOES OUT ALL THE WATER SPILLS EVERY WHERE AND YOU LOSE EVERYTHING!

That will not happen if u have it drilled in the upper region of the tank. Closed loop has nothing to do with a sump

I think the bet part about a CL is that there is no head loss. Avery efficient way to add flow.
