Flipping lighting sequence

i copyed to here due to being buried in the list...

hello all,
i am planning on flipping my lighting schedule from 11am to 11 pm to 5pm to 5am. i was wondering if i could get by with going night for 24hrs-36hrs and then having the lights pick up at 5pm, or if i should slowly change per day? im leaning more towards all at once but im not sure. the fish have been on this cycle for over 2 months and when i extended the lighting from 10pm to 11pm a few weeks ago, the fish went into their "sleep" spots and looked around at eachother saying who forgot to turn out the lights?

im inverting the lighting so i dont have to run ac in my house at all. i have a cheapie apartment and a window unit thats run up ac to 300 dollars on a 600 sq ft apartment. i set the ac to keep the tank 79-81 and it still was 300 too.
