Any ID on this anemone-type thing?
I first noticed this growing out of a rock a couple of months ago. I thought it might be aptasia so I squirted it with boiling water and it appeared to have died. About a week later it re-emerged, and has now grown to almost double in size. It's now about the diameter of a nickel. If I touch it, it withdraws into the rock like an anemone. It is getting larger, but I haven't noticed any others popping up.
Is it aptasia? Some other sort of anemone? Should I try to kill it? |

Never heard of them but thanks to your post (and near spelling ) I was able to look it up. You're right, not a good thing. By itself it's not bad looking and it hasn't yet spread, but I'm taking no chances. I'll try the boiling water again, and also order some Joe's Juice. Good catch. |
