Hi, I'm an American living in South Korea. I have decided to turn all of my freshwater tanks into marine tanks.
SoooOoO I have done a lot of research on the net and bought a lot of books, so I go into the LFS and it's full of fish I cant find at all on the net. It's hard to research their needs like this. Please take a shot... 1) This fish is listed as a "Red Tile Fish" and under the Goby section... Looks nothing like the ugly Red Tile Fish I found on the net: http://www.kimsaqua.com/goods/good_i...ilefish1_m.jpg 2) This fish is called "Bali Red Goby" but when I look that fish up, it's also called the curious worm fish - and looks very little like this beautiful red goby: http://www.kimsaqua.com/goods/good_i...redgoby1_m.jpg 3) And then there is this wierdo. It's called a "Ghost Pipefish" and I can find a lot of pictures on the net, but no keeping requirements. (I know... Pipefish are hard to keep). http://www.animalls.co.kr/img_gds/0000000421_1.jpg |

i am assuming your colors are off in the pic, and where its pink, the fish is actually white.
1. (Hoplolatilus marcosi) Redlined Tilefish, Shunk Tilefish, or Marcos' Tilefish are all common names http://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11...ot_parent_id=4 2.(Gunnelichthys curiosus) Curious Wormfish http://www.meerwasser-lexikon.de/eng...s/curiosus.htm 3. looks like, but im not sure. (Solenostomus paradoxus) Harlequin ghost pipefish http://www.meerwasser-lexikon.de/eng.../paradoxus.htm and ![]() To Reef Central

First off, it looks like two the fish are under extremely heavy actinic lighting (or image editing), as what is represented is not entirely the true coloration of these fishes.
The first is Hoplolatilus marcosi 2--Gunnellichthys curiosus, red color variant 3--Solenostomus paradoxus. This species is not a pipefish, but rather, are in a separate family all unto themselves. They are extremely difficult, preferring a reef setting (a tank preferably devoid of strongly stinging corals. They are more tolerant of currents and are often found in stronger current areas in the wild. They will feed usually only on live foods, which should consist primarily of live mysid shrimps. Other smaller shrimps can be fed, if available, but mysids are ideal.
