Skimmer Recomendation for 90+gallons

I have a problem with my current EuroReef skimmer and I'm going to buy a new skimmer for my tank upgrade.

The new tank is 90gallons, hopefully with 75-100gallon sump probably only 40gallons of water in it. Added in the future will be a 46gallon bowfront sea horse tank.

Is an ASM G3 a good choice? I might use my EuroReef ES5-3 with the new skimmer since it just needs a new pump. I was also looking into MRC-2 and 3 series... but I did not want to run an external pump to save on electricity, but would like to keep the heat out of the water so its still a possiblity.

Any recomendations?

I also have a g3 on my 75 gallon with 30 gallon sump - I love it. I did the recirc mod and gate valve, I feed it directly from the overflow.

I'll probably be getting rid of mine here in a few weeks - I was fortunate enough to get a new skimmer setup from Kent - so I'll be switching to them when I change to my basement sump with a 90 gallon display.

I used the G-3 before and it is a great skimmer. In about 2 weeks of using it my softies (mostly xenia) started dwindling and my sps took off... I had it on my 125 which had about 200 gals total and it pulled the nastiest stuff I ever smely lol. You could alway go with the G-4 if u want larger....

I have a G-3 for my 55 gal with a 30 gal sump. It may be a little over-kill on skimming - but - It is amazing the amount of crud it skims for the price. I am working on the exhaust / loop mods this weekend

Are they even making the ASM skimmers anymore? I'm kinda in the same situation and was looking at the G3 but according to http://www.asmskimmer.com/ they are not offerring them anymore.

They suggest this site http://www.octopusskimmer.com/ and I think I might try the NW 150 For a 90 display with a 30 sump. They also cost quite a bit less.

I think thats a site that sells ASM skimmers, not the company ASM's website. The only reason I say that is because in descrptions of the skimmers they say "ASM rating, then OUR rating"

you can get them here: premium aquatics

The G3 is a fantastic model for sure, but you've allready got a great skimmer in the euro reef (they're also made by ASM). Really the only differences between the 5-3 and the ASM G3 are diameter and pump. The G3 uses a Sedra 5000 while the ER uses a 3500. I might consider purchasing a Sedra 5000 pump and putting that on your euroreef skimmer before I'd look into spending the money on a new G3. JMO though

I think a replacement pump is in the ball park of $100.

Any input on Life Reef skimmers? I saw keiths last week and it was pretty nice. The owner Jeff called me on friday (when we had no power) and helped me pick a model.

Looking at the VS3-36

Asmskimmers.com offered certain models for sale at too low of a price, so ASM decided not to distribute to them anymore. Reefgeek still sells them, but they have gone up dramatically for a G3.

I had a generator hooked up to my tank and sump pump. No power/lights for 3days. I lost some nice corals a ORA green birdsnest, hot pink birds nest they were looking a little strange before hand cuz of a nitrate problem.

Thanks for asking!!!!
