Sodium Chloride WEIGHT % in marine tank
Hi,
I had to rush out and get a new meter for measuring salt in my tank. However this one shows the WEIGHT as a percentage in the tank and I don't know what I should be aiming for? Could someone please provide me some simple figures for me to aim at: Low Correct High Cheers Stu

What sort of meter is it?
Hydrometer? Refractometer? Electronic meter? This article has more: Reef Aquarium Salinity: Homemade Calibration Standards http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-06/rhf/index.htm

Hi Randy
It's an electronic meter that shows the disolved salts as a percentage. I was wondering what the percentages I should be aiming for. Cheers Stu

Well, that's tricky as I'm not sure exactly what it is reporting. If it is reporting weight percent sodium chloride, then if you target 3.29 weight percent, that corresponds to 35 ppt seawater.

That's a very high salinity. You might make my DIY standard to confirm, but if the meter is accurate, it needs to be a lot lower.
