Red stringy stuff on my sand

I set up my 75 tank up 2 weeks ago with 30 lbs of CC and 20 lbs of live sand. last Saturday I added 40 lbs of LR. over the last few days I noticed that my sand and crushed coral was delevoping a red tint and today I got home and the deep red tinted areas is now growing deep red stringy stuff ? Should I be concerned ?

cyanobacteria...aka red slime. Since the tank is just starting its perfectly normal, but if you ever get it again, nitrates and phosphates are the onces to blame. But keep those down and it will go away on its own in time.

imo you shouldnt get an RO/DI system based on wether or not you've got cyano. You should get an ro unit no matter what, not just if you got cyano.

I just added the live rock to my tank about 2 weeks ago. A week ago, the red slime was pretty bad. Now it is still there, but it doesn't seem to be growing any more. If I blow it off the glass and rocks with a turkey baster, it now stays fairly clean for a couple days--definitely improving.

I am running the skimmer 24/7, and I have a ball of cheato in the fuge. I also vacuumed all of the junk out of the bottom of the fuge, which really seemed to help.
