Purchasing Clean up crew
Anyone have a recomendation where to purchase a clean up crew for a 22 I am just setting up? Just checked out WWW.reeftopia.com and they have some pretty reasonable prices on "lot" buys for a tank of my size.
Thanks, John

i've seen clean up crew ensembles sold together. i personally haven't seen anything that works better than turbo snails, astrea snails, cerith snails, and hermit crabs. you got a lot of varying opinion on hermit crabs. i think they're pretty good, and they've left my crabs alone. i did add a few extra snail shells for good measure just to be sure, though.
in a 22 gallon, i'd probably get 1 turbo snail, 4 cerith snails and 2 astrea snails, and then 3-4 various hermit crabs. i've never seen one kind of hermit crab 'out perform' another kind, so you're pretty much at your leisure to buy according to price or according to look. i personally LOVE scarlet legged hermit crabs. happy reefing.

I like small critter crews myself and can not stand hermit crabs (opportunistic predators that love to eat snails and dumb fish)
http://inlandaquatics.com has a detrivore starter kit I like to use. Sure hate paying for it but is has been very effective for me
