Pondmaster pumps
Ive got both of these pondmaster pumps externally hooked up to two different tanks... Okay.. so I do a water change and notice a puddle of water under my 200gal tank. I look and its coming from the seal where the cover attaches to the pump itself with 6 screws.. so i disconnect it and tighten them. Still leaking... Furthermore Ive got a broken ceramic impeller shaft and no luck on where to get replacements. (Jeff doesnt know either) So Ive disconnected the sump until I can find a solution and am running the tank with some powerheads.. My other tank has a little salt creep around the seal on the 9.5 also... My question is this.. If anyone has had any pondmaster pumps with leaking problems.. IF YOU DONT KNOW I WOULD CHECK.. the first sign is salt creep around the seals.. .. I just finished writing Pondmaster about the problem and hope to get a good response soon. The seals on these pumps do not seem to be of sufficient thickness and will not completly seal the pump. I am just very frustrated and want to know if Im the only one having these problems with the pondmaster pumps..
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! |

They are better as submerged pumps than external.

I'm running a MAG 18 on my closed loop. No problems so far but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

What other brands of external pumps would anyone recommend... I want something that is long lived, wont leak, resonably quiet, and headache free... for the most part. Thanks for the replies.

For a pump that is both submersible and can be run external, Eheim. If you want a true external pump, Panworld are real nice.
