please help with a couple diy halide questions

rather than spend near 900 bucks on a coralife aqualight pro

I would like to make a wood box and mount a couple halides in it and lie it across the top of my 120 gallon tank. it has eurobraces so the box can rest on these. how wide are the reflectors and does the wiring from the lights have a decent harness so I can secure it properly? maybe after buying all the stuff I am better off buying the coralife?

Thats just what I did basicly. Make a box to sit on top of the tank.
I did split it down the middle lenght wise and put some hinges on it to open it up.

I like to use the PFO style mogul sockets. They are wired up with solid wires.
