Break-in time for ASM G3
I will be plugging in my sump tonight for the first time and wanted to know how long it will take to equilibrate the water level in the bubble column. A friend of mine had a hard time finding the correct height for his overflow pipe and his skimmer cup was filling with water and not bubbles for a few days. It is trial and error or is there a correct height as recommended by ASM?
Thanks

With the Gate Valve Mod it will only take a few minutes. But for breaking in and making good skum it may take a few days. Cleaning it first will shorten the breakin period somewhat they say.

I know it may take some time to start and effectively skim the the tank. The issue is when the pump is initially plugged in the water column rises so quickly that it begins to fill the chamber (skimmate chamber) with water. How low should the return pipe be set to avoid this situation?

I set mine so that the inital bubbles are about halfway up the collection cup tube, that gives me pretty wet skimmate.
