Reef Crystals FTW! Liveaquaria.com and the Georgia Aquarium use it and I trust their expertise.

I forgot to add many others as well. The only ones that I pretty much added were the ones offered on Dr. Foster and Smith.

Well, several important salts are missing from the poll. I am a Tropic Marin Fan. I used to use IO when it was one of the only salts available back in the 70s. At that time it was loaded with phosphate and algea was a big problem. It has undergone multiple improvements since those days, and though I know it is very popular, I just have never gone back to it. Just my prejudice, I suppose.

I like the Aquamedic Reef Salt (the best in my opinion) and alternatively the new Red Sea Coral Pro.

I like Instant Ocean and have used it successfully for more than 10 years. I boost the calcium by 70 ppm with Dowflake and magnesium by 150 ppm with MAG flake, both of which are available from Home Depot.

Seems like Reef Crystals is taking the overwhelming majority. I used to use RC in my old 100g reef back in the 90's I at the time I found it somewhat lacking, and was considering going with something else with my future tanks. Maybe I will have to have another look at it?

I think maybe we should create another poll which includes other popular brands like IO, HW, Tropic Marin, etc, in addition to these...

FWIW, most salt polls that have all the mixes show Instant Ocean is by far the most commonly used mix.
There are dozens of such polls. Maybe just pull up some old ones, for example:

I guess that depends. I recently switched salts and have noticed drastic improvements. My previous switch (the reason I switched recently) showed opposite results.

The simple act of switching is not generally a concern.
