QT / desease treatment poll

Ok, you get a new fish (lets say Tang). Probability of it being with some sort of parasite or infection is high. You put it in a QT (hospital tank) to treat.
Feel free to express your treatment plan preferences.

I do not believe in medicating unless I observe a problem, then medicate with the appropriate medicine.

This sounds good, ... lets assume it has Ich and possible internal parasites.

If I see ich, then hypo.

The idea of qt is to observe for a month, and if no disease, then don't treat. Copper is a poison, and the treatment is gauged to kill the parasite before it kills the fish. Hypo is a stress to the kidneys. Just best leave a healthy fish healthy.

I'd treat using hypo to ensure that the fish is ich-free before adding it to the display. Even if the fish appears healthy, it could still be carrying the parasite - keeping each and every fish in hypo for six weeks while in the QT would ensure that no parasites make their way into the tank.

If there are internal parasites, metronidazole might work well (works for intestinal flagellates, but not worms).

I would give it a dip and QT it..
