Can Gorgonians be fresh water dipped? (Similar to zoanthids)
I just aquired 2 gorgonias, I believe both to be Muricea sp. They are currently in QT and I was wondering if I can do a fresh water dip similar to what is recommended for zoanthids. Temp and ph would be matched with the QT tank.
Zoanthid Fresh Water Dip Thread Any tips or recommendations? Thanks, Chris |

according to liveaquaria.com several types of gorgonians can be dipped in fresh water to rid them of cyno. What are you looking to rid yours of? I have not used this method for my purple brush gorgonian when it had some cyno on it. I just clipped the branch off with no ill effects. Not sure on the info for your particular gorgonian because it is not listed in live aquaria. i'm no expert but i say give it a quick dip or even dip one of the two if you are worried about any negative consequences.

No particular ills, just preventative treatment for anything that I may not be able to see now but could potentially be hazardous if introduced in the aquarium.
