unattached mushrooms, and other things

Tomorrow I think I am going to go to my lfs, sometimes they have some mushrooms and zoos that arent attached to rocks, and they will just give you those for a few cents. Some people have told me that they do this, and from one mushroom they will have 7-8 within a little while. Others tell me that they frag them. What can I do to encourage the mushroom to spread?Same with zoos?

mushrooms you can actually cut up like a pizza. The number of pieces you have, the number of mushrooms you will have. Zoos kind of have a mind of their own. Some types grow like crazy (EE's, etc.), while others barely grow at all (envy orange). Good luck!

Some people are like Slinkies . . . not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Give them good water quality and time. Nature will do the rest.

Yeah I will have to research on the cutting thing. Because I tried it one time, but it didnt turn out too well. Will the four pieces stick to the rock if I put the cut ones in the tank?

your best bet in getting them to attach is to either:

a) put them on the rock and then cover the rock lightly with bridal veil and a rubber band, allowing the mushroom to attach to the rock

OR

b) setting the mushrooms in a tray with sand in it (in a low flow area of the tank) so that the mushrooms attach to some of the sand, and then using that sand and superglue to attach them to the rock.

If you don't use one of these methods, and try to just glue them to the rock, they will stay for a little bit but they are too slimy for a direct gluing to a rock.

Good luck.
