Crocea Clam foot eaten by wrasse

Two days ago I bought a Crocea Clam and as soon as I introduced it to my tank, my wrasse bit off the clams foot which he uses to adhere to things. Today the clam opened up completely and doesn't seem to be doing that bad. My question is will he make it missing is clam foot, will it regeneratea new foot? Can I place the clam on sand substrate to avoid exposure of his bottom.

Thank you-

DJPJ

The foot will grow back as long as the wrasse doesn't keep biting it. Croceas should be on the rock, but sand MIGHT be ok for a while. However, putting it on sand then moving it to the rock might stress it more. I would try to put it on a piece of rock.

reply to hippie

thanks for the advice hippie- I was also thinking of putting the clam in my refuge but I have some doubts because i have a 18 watt 10K lighting and don't know if that's enough light for the clam. Also do you know more or less how long it will take the calm to regenerate it's foot. I know enivormental issues play a huge part on the time but, would know roughly how long?

Thanks again.

If you put this clam in your sump with 18 watts of light you might as well have sushi, these things need the daily sunburn I wated to have a thousand watts to give them. the gigas I rescued from my Lfs because of bleaching, but I will whip it into shape.

definitly not enough light in your refuge, but it wont take long for the foot to grow back. I have 2 crocea and a deresea. When i bought one of my crocea the guy at the lfs had ripped the foot of the clam off the rock. Clam is doing fine
