Would love to go with MH, like my last setup, but energy prices here is NY are insane, with MH I would have to aslo get a chiller to cool things down, which means more energy costs, with T5's which are less power hungry and produce less heat, which hopefully will not need for me to add a chiller to cool my tank down, do to heat emited from the lights.

We have basically identical setup, bought it used off someone else. Four 110W VHOs in the hood and external little giant pump; I think the pump generates a lot of heat. During the summer (house is hot) temp is around 79-81, as long as we keep the canopy back open and use eggcrate lid on the aquarium. Chiller isn't really an option for us due to old rental house with glass fuses, pretty sure the circuit couldn't handle it. I'm not sure how the heat emission of T5s and VHOs compares.
