Water containers

I have a couple 6gal water containers that I use to pick up my RO water. I went to buy some water, and got a really nasty mildew smell in one of them. What's bad is I added some water from one of these things the other day and didn't give the smell a second though.

Would it be ok to clean these using bleach then let water set in there with some chlorine remover?

Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Lou

Yeah it's ok, just really dilute the bleach and clean well using a product with a chlorine remover like amquel or stress coat. I've done it before and no problems. To be sure, when you are done cleaning you could fill it with water, wait a day then test the water for chlorine.
