Where to buy snails near Deer Park or beyond
Hello,
Thanks for the wonderful forum. If my schedule permits I will try to visit a meeting. My reef is a few years old and my snail population is dwindling. What is the best local place (cheap and/or good) to purchase snails and other livestock? Thanks in advance...JOHN |

good place is any marsh area at low tide for the black narrius snails and check the docks you may still find grass or feeder shrimp along the edge of the dock. it may have gotten to cold already for the shrimp.

How about Bills Reef , he is a local online seller. You can place an order and then pick it up at a reef meeting.

Thanks for all the input.
Megapets in plainview had a small selection (although the had a nice reef set up where everything was probably for sale). Petco...walk in...walk out (I purchased my yellow tang there last year for $20). Very impressed with pet warehouse (copaigue) selection and I'll return next week to spend more money (snails were $.75. Gave me all the ones near the top. Said they were turbos, I really don't know the difference). The only problem is that I saw a small patch of cyano (brown with bubbles growing on one of the outer tanks) If there are any larger stores with more selection please let me know. |

Try Aqua Hut in Coram, located on Route 25 in the Home Depot shopping center just east of Route 112 and Route 25(Middle country road).
He is doing a renovation of the store which is almost complete, but he usually has good selection of snails. |
