Is this possible?
The heat problem in my 110G is really getting out of hands. It is a very weird problem. I'll try my best to describe it
I got a new Coralife thermometer to replace my broken/old thermometer. The first time I put it in, it displays 82F which freaked me out a little b/c I didn't thought my tank was that hot. I left it alone for about 2 weeks. Everyday though, I see a slight increase in the average temperature 'til today when it hits 86.7F! Last night when the lights were out, it was 81F which doesn't make sense since my house temperature is always below 75F. I tried to testing the thermometer's accuracy by iturning my new Titanium heater to 86F and right at 86F, the heater comes on, which means both the new heater and new thermometer are reading 86F! If they are not reading incorrectly... then what's giving my tank such a high temp? Right now my tank has the following equipments: 2 Maxijet 900's 1 Mag9.5 return pump - submerged 6 54W T5 bulbs 1 9W (74W) fuge light - reverse light cycle 1 9W UV What's weird is that the average temp increases bit by bit daily... ANY help will be much appreciated!!! TIA!

Start swapping out your pumps. One of them may be on it's way out and is overheating.

Has the temp been increasing since you put in the new heater?(heater may be defective) If not check the Mag pump in a bucket of water...see if it raises water temp quickly. You've only got a few sources that could be raising your water temp. Just rule each one out one at a time.

Great idea! I'll start doing that.
Something is REALLY heating the water up quick. I tried adding a bag of ice in the sump and the temp went down to 85. I looked away for a few mins and the temp went back up to 85.6. Something is going wrong :/

Also while you're testing the pumps and equipment you need to get your temperature back down, thats pretty darn hot.. put some fans on the tank and reduce your lighting as required.

Having the Mag 9.5, and the two powerheads submerged isn't helping. Is there any way you could use the Mag pump as an external pump instead? I guess you probably can't do that now.

I "think" i have narrowed it down to 2 Maxijets O.O I turned off all lights, unplugged heater, turned off return pump, leaving only 2 maxijets running in the main tank. The temp rose from 85 to 85.8 in 15 minutes. I just turned off 1 of the maxi's (the noisier one) to see if it is the heat source
