Electricity
Hey guys,
Does anyone know how much it costs in electicity a month to run your tanks? I have a 125 with a big return pump and 800wats of VHO's on it and I think there is a mistake in my electic bill. It's about double what the average is for my area of the country. Anyone know what yours are? Thanks |

For the lights alone it's 0.8 KW x hours run per day x 30 days per months x electric rate (assume 8 to 10 cents per Killowatt hour):
0.8 KW X 12 hours per day x 30 days per month x $0.08 per KWH = $23.04 to run your lights for a month. That will be most of your cost right there. You pump adds alot less (unless you have a really big pump). |

There is also an electrical consumption calculator on the RC homepage

Look into the Kill-A-Watt product if you want to know for sure, it has a kilowatt-hour function that will keep a running total of electrical consumption.
