Buildup on the surface of the water
So is getting some what I'm assuming is oil / protein buildup on the surface of the water normal during a cycle? I had none yesterday and when i came home today the surface had lots of bubbles all over it. I do have a skimmer and it's picking up a tun of crap. I'm assuming that it'll go away but i just wanted to make sure.

Do you have any surface agitation?.....I had that problem until I "stirred up" the surface

do you run a skimmer?
running a skimmer with a surface pre filter will take care of it. if you just use agitation, it'll technically still be in your water.. what you want to do is actually get rid of it.

try a hang on back filter. (aqua clear is what i have) it causes a lil wave over top of your water, adds oxegen to your water. and also is handy for useing carbon and things
