Skimmer Selection
Hey,
I recently bought a Prizm Pro protein skimmer for my tank off a friend that was leaving the hobby. I've had it running in my 90G reef tank for about one month and I'm fairly pleased with it. Before that I had a CSS 220G protein skimmer, which did a great job but was bulky and produced a lot of micro bubbles. this is why I changed to the Prizm. From what I've read up on, the CSS is a much better unit than the Prizm. My questions relating to hang on skimmers are: 1. I've been fairly happy with the Prizm so far, but wanted to know your opinions on the Prizm vs. CSS. 2. I've been reading a lot of positives about the Aqua C Remora Pro with the Mag 3/5 but have also heard about micro bubble issues. Would this be an even better choice for my reef tank? Please keep in mind that I don't have a sump (i.e. need a hang on unit) and want to know if it would be worthwhile to upgrade. Thanks |

i like the remora with the mag 5 for a 90 reef. i just dont think that long term the prism will provide you with clean water....just my opinion

I own a prizm pro my self. despite all the bashing it is a fairly good skimmer. But i would not suggest it for anything larger than a 40 gal with a medium bio load. mine pulls out medium to dark skimate and hasnt been cleaned in a year.

stallion7 - ive heard that the prizm pro has to be adjusted at least twice a week. Are you finding this to be true?
