Electric Panel Project - feeback?
Ok, update on my electrical project that I have yet to start...
Currently I have two dedicated 20 amp circuits that power my whole setup. But its a bit messy and the only way I can shut something down is to unplug from the mess. So, a few weeks ago I bought these: Two American DJ-100 power centers. Im planning on making an electrical panel using these, each connected to one of the 20 amp lines. The first step is to make a list of all my devices, their amperage, and plan out which should go on which circuit -- here's a draft: This is my first crack. What do you think? A few things I know I need to figure out: - Im going to make one of these circuits (or both?) GFCI protected - I asked my contractor to make them GFCI but Im pretty sure he didnt. - What are the pros an cons on GFCI. Obviously the pro is that you can protect yourself of a bad injury/death And the con is that some devices will trip the GFCI on a surge and possibly shut down the whole tank. - With that said, Im not sure A) which devices are the most risky and should be on GFCI B) which should stay off GFCI to keep the tank running if the other trips. Im thinking submerged devices (heaters, powerheads, pumps) should be GFCI'd. But then Im thinking things like lights, b/c they're so powerful, should also be protected.
