Should skimmers be off while dosing?

Should Protein Skimmers be off while dosing a tank with medication? The bottle only says remove carbon, but I dont have any. However, I notice that the skimmer trap is filled with water every night since I've started dosing and I've seen absolutely no improvement in my fish since dosing started.

I'm using Pimafix on my display tank because my Oscellaris clown has these white cottony type growths on its gill and one small one on his tail. Anyone know of another treatment to try if this doesn't have any effect after a week?

It is a bad idea to dose any medication in your main tank. A quarantene / hospital tank woud work much better. Yes, A skimmer can remove medication out of the water, so it is best not to run one on a quarantine tank.

This pimafix stuff specifically says safe for a display tank. However, if it doesn't do the trick then I will have to move my clown out of the tank and into a QT to treat with more powerful stuff. Unfortunetly, I can't figure out what he has or anything to treat him with. This pimafix is the only stuff that has been suggested.

Also, when treating clowns do I need to take both clowns out to make sure they don't change sexes in QT?
