Absolutely, they are not majanos--they are tulip anemones. NON-STINGING--look them up! Majanos do not have pink tips.

They're not Majanos, they're tulip anemones and they're almost as bad. They have a bad habit of taking over the tank and to say that they are non stinging is just plain false. They are one of the reasons I had to take my entire tank down and torch every bit of my 300+ lbs of rock to erradicate them! Buy them if you must but remember what I said... in a year you'll be kicking yourself for ever messing with them....

I've had them for a few months now, next to may different corals, even sensitive ones. No signs of stinging. Yes, they do reproduce a lot but I really like them--they're cute & colorful! Would be nice in a nano.

You think that's very nice to post on a thread where someone is trying to sell something? I don't, even if no one wants mine!

Can we all please stop crapping all over eachothers posts (just a thought)? Every one likes different things. No need for all the unnecessary negativity. Most people may not put these in a reef tank, but personally I think that they'd make a nice addition to FOWLR. It all depends on your preferences.

It's not a matter of negativity- It's making facts known so that people new to the hobby don't come on to this thread thinking "look at the pretty anemones" and bring a plague home to their tank. I agree that they would look cool in a FOWLR but that needs to be stated at the beginning- unless you don't really know what it is you are selling - In that case you have no business selling them to begin with....

I honestly thought the thread was a joke to start off with. We frequently have analogous funny threads in the CMAS forum.
Now that it's not, we also do each other and new reefers a service with threads like this. Those with reef tanks generally consider these to be pests. Nobody would want willingly to infest someone else's tank, at least, I know that pufferpunk doesn't. And a newbie doesn't want his or her tank infested. These could be interesting and colorful in a FOWLR. It is useful to make that information clear to people, hansnfrans, including to the initiator of the thread.

I have to agree that it's nice having the responses warning people about the dangers of the anenome. Being new to this hoppy i really need help from people to make sure I don't ruin my tank.

Ostrow- What was not fair about my last statement? I have been in this hobby going on 13 years and Lots of hard earned experience has taught me that it's not good practice to buy or sell anything you don't know much about. Fair has nothing to do with it! Selling something like that with the description attached is just not right yet while obviously there was no malicious intent here there should have been some research done before selling it. I do think they are nice looking (until you have carpets of them- Then all of the pretty little colors mix to look like a brown shag rug) and they would place nicely in a FOWLR....nuf said....

I did say they "multiply fast". The only complaint I have here is the fellow offering to GIVE them away in the same thread I'm trying to sell them in. That's just downright rude! I find them very cute & don't find them invasive--yet. I have tried to look them up & I keep getting info about tulip or anemone flowers. Does anyone have a scientific name? I have a friend that bought some from Ebay & was very happy with them, so I was excited to find them in Yahutch's reef. I'm not sure how long she had them but they were not all over her tank.

Kentrob: There are lots of people who sell, say, acro frags that have AEF on them who don't know it. Can't expect everyone to know everything. Pufferpunk said everything she knew about the item and posted a pic. The one sentence sounded a little blaming which would not be fair IMO, that's all.
thepro: yes this forum and others on RC are fantastic for quick education!
