MH reflectors

what are some good reflectors that will fit in a 90g closed canopy? the reflectors that came with my MH retro were to big and i had to cut them up and i can tell a diff between the 2 refelctors so i was wondering what were some good quality ones that would fit my situation.

It all depends what size your canopy is.

Go for lumenarc reflectors, they make a number that will fit and they are the best reflectors you can get.

Correction: One of the best reflectors!

The only lumenarc reflectors that will work for your application is the Lumenarc Mini for Single Ended (SE) and the Lumenarc built for Dual Ended (DE) bulbs.

You could also consider the Sunlight Supply (SLS) Lumenmax II for SE and Lumenmax III for DE bulbs. The do cost a bit more than the Lumenarcs.

Another consideration is the SLS Reef Optix I for SE and Reef Optix III for DE. With the dimensions (48x18) of your tank these pendants would perform very well while actually providing more intensity than previously mentioned reflectors since they are optimized for a more focused output. They are also cheaper than the Lumenarc and Lumenmax.

If you just want a simple reflector The SLS Reef Optix II and PFO Spiderlight reflector will be good choices. These do not perform quite as well as the pendants that capture light from all sides of the bulb but they are solid performers for what they are.

so... i've been considering what i'm going to use to light my cube. The cube is 48x48x36. I have been considering the LumenArc and the LumenMax. The problem is, i'm not sure if i want to run a single 1000watt on a track, 2x400 or 4x250.

I plan on setting my lights in the following manor:

-------- 48" VHO --------
------ MH ----- MH ------
-------- 48" VHO --------
------ MH ----- MH ------
-------- 48" VHO --------

So, the saga continues...

I'm using SLS lumen Max 3's. They are AWESOME. Actually, they were recommended to me by Sanjay.

Waxxiemann - Any regrets? What lengh/depth of tank are you lighting? How many watts?

I've been considering the PFO's, especially some DE's.

tank is a 90 (48X18x24). I also supplement w/ 54 watt t5 actinics. So far I love them, they are great, the spread is perfect. I went with the SLS Blue Wave 7 as well. The bulbs are 10k Ushios.

Oh, its a 250 watt DE bulb/ballast/reflector.

My advice, don't go with a 10k bulb and a mag ballast, it is a little yellow for my taste, I'll shoot for a 12.5k or 13.5k for next time.

HTH, just ask if you want to know more.

Waxxiemann - so far, it looks like i'm leaning towards the PFO HQI ballast. As for bulbs, it looks like I would be going with the Iwasaki.

As for my configuration, I'm thinking if i go with the 4x250watts, that i will us 4 separate ballast's, that way, i have more control of how i turn on the lights via a timer.

Again, i haven't ruled out the 2x400's in fact, that may be the route it take just cause i am ensure of the LARGE amount of PAR.
