ASM Protien Skimmer is to loud

I got an asm protein skimmer about 6months ago. It is a really great skimmer except that it is nosy. The intake tube on the pump makes a gurgling noise and the water coming out of the spout sounds like a small water fall in my living room. If I rinse the foam filter out it quiets things down for a day or two.

Any one have any suggestions for reducing the noise coming from this skimmer.

I use an air valve on the air intake to muffle the sucking sound. This also alows me to control the amount of air that gets injected. I also keep the water level in the sump right at or near the bottom of the foam so it doesn't splash off the foam into the sump.

I keep the water level at the bottom of the foam as well

A small air valve is a good idea I will have to try that

You can make a muffler.
