SCWD vs pump without prefilter
Is anyone here using or have used in the past a SCWD on a pump without a prefilter? I would like to use a SCWD with a Blueline 40hd-x, and I will also like to carry up pods from my refugium into my display tank. If you have done this before, please let me know how it affects the SCWD. Does it get clogged easily, are you happy with it, etc. Thank you very much, I look forward to some feedback on this.

have been using them on several systems with the very same pump you mentioned.2 years of use required changing the original units once and i have had to clean them 1 time also.they jam easier with less flow but running a 40 x keeps them running trouble free for a pretty long time.i will be switching to a oceans motion

Cool, thanks a lot for the reply. I'd love to get one of those Oceansmotions things, but I can't afford one right now... maybe later.

I used my SCWD for about a year with a Mag 9.5 w/o prefilter and it never jammed. The only reason I stopped using it is because it somewhat limits the flow to my display tank.. but I'm thinking about putting it back on

I have had sever SCWDS thru the years and they only seem to last about 6-9 months. I was running mine without a pre filter. It really suck when they stop working because all of the sudden I loose flow to one side of the tank. So I took it out and got a pair of Tunze Streams, No flow problems now.
Also be careful when connecting the SCWD, the first time I cracked my. |
