what does the tank need during cycling?
My tank is one week old and I haven't noticed any reactiuon by the live rock like coraline growth. I don't know how fast coraline grows but there is nothing growing on the front of the tank. The water is not cloudy. What exactly needs to be done when the tank is cycling?

Keep doing good stuff, then don't hold your breath for about three months. After that you look again and notice how well your tank has been doing.
Good stuff just takes a while. A week into a brand new tank will not show anything growing. Just like a tree if you stare at it daily it looks as dead as a rock. But if you take a look once every few months you will see it growing.

Patience, mostly. You might start a log book on your computer, complete with pix AND testing parameters. You'll be happy you did, when you can look back on the whole progress of your tank.

Just let it go. Keep testing throughout the cycling period so you'll know exactly when the tank stabilizes. Coralline takes time. Getting your alk and calcium levels stable will help.

Yea coraline takes a few months and just running your skimmer and bio filter is all thats needed but the sooner the light the better and adjust lighting weekly never all at first as this may cause algea out break.
