Noisy skimmer

I have just got my skimmer up and running. It is pretty noisy though, are all skimmers noisy? Plus I had to put foam on the outlet pipe to stop it slinging air bubbles in my tank.

Bear in mind the skimmer is brand new, will it quieten down?

What kind of skimmer is it? Without knowing the model it's impossible to help you.

It is a V2 Skim 600

Oh yeah, when I cover up the air inlet it quietens down but no air bubbles appear in the skimmer!

on my skimmer, i just took the airline tubing connected to it, wrapped that in a hand towell and then stuck that inside of some pvc tubing. quieted it down A LOT!
