Whats the difference of SE MH or DE MH

I was just wondering what the big difference is, besides costing more, between single ended metal halides, and double ended metal halides. I understand about using glass to shield the DE's because of the UV rays. But is it just more intense lighting for a specific watt?

Would using a single ended like this one restrict me from keeping anything in a 60 cube (24 x 24 x 21)

Or would this Double Ended be better for the application of a full blown reef aquarium?

I dont want to be restricied on keeping any corals if one day I decide to put them in.

Any thoughts of the advantages or disadvatnages of going with the Single Ended metal halides?

Yeah, DE has a little more punch per what. SE are slowly working their way to becoming obsolete

Hey Scaryperson27, how do you like that octopus NW-150? Have you ever used anything else you can compare it to?

and thanks for your input, I was thinking the same about the DE metal halides, I want to upgrade when I set up my new cube, and try and get away from VHO

I used a sealife systems skimmer which was rated for a 75 gallon tank. I have seen the Coralife super skimmer 220 and my skimmer pulles out a much better quality muck than it did.
