It takes days for a brand new skimmer to start skimming stuff out of the tank. Give it 24hours and you'll start to see some skimmate. Give it another day or two and as long as you have it dialed in correctly, it will start skimming as its supposed to. Its frustrating the first few days, but its completely normal.

You may not have it set correctly plumbing or waterlevel. I have an AP600 that is gravity feed from the overflow and it filled up the cup in the first 10 hours I had it running. Try posting in the Deltec forum, Deltec Doug will help you out. Some do say skimmers need time to break in all the Deltecs i have used do not though, they alway skim in the first 3 minutes. Once you get it figured out you will love it.

I concur that it may be a plumbing problem. Mine was up and running and started pulling massive stuff (mostly silt from the new sand) from the get go and it was a new tank! Deltecs rock and you shouldn't be just getting a couple bubbles, it should be a gazillion bubbles . I suggest going to the Deltec forums as well. You could also click on the search button on top of my posting to see a posting I posted on how I did the plumbing of the same skimmer.

HTHs,

Minh

okay... well i think my problem is water level in the skimmer.. i have connected it to my overflow and have not adjusted the ball valve on the skimmer outlet.. so i guess i will have to raise the waterlevel inside the skimmer... anyone knows how high the water must be in the skimmer?

The water level in the skimmer should be to the bottom of the black twist lock for the skimmer cup. At least that is what they recommend, but on my AP600 I keep it to the top of that fitting.
