Setting Up A Quarantine Tank
I have 10 gallon tank I'm gonna use as a quarantine tank. I was wondering what is the best way to set one up. Does it need to cycle as well? For those who use them I would appreciate a step-by-step guide how to set one up/ get one established. Thanks

Do a search under RK Mag up top. Look for the October 2004 issue. There's a great guide for QT and your needs.
In addition to the tank, I'm using a sponge filter, small heater, power head, PVC pipe and a CF bulb. Place the sponge in your display sump for several weeks. After that, you can add it to your QT and the tank won't need to cycle.

You don't really need to have it set up all the time. A lot of people just use a small tank and powerfilter, like an aquaclear. You can leave the sponge in your sump and when you need to quarantine just fill the qt with tank water and put the sponge in the powerfilter and your are good to go. Instant qt.

Thanks guys....that makes good sense to add water from the established tank and use of sponge. Never thought about that.
