Loctite putty epoxy <- Is this reef safe
Hi all,
I picked up a tube of Loctite Marine Grade epoxy from Lowes. It's the putty type and blue in color. However, I read on the side that it shouldn't be used for potable water source applications... Does this mean I purchased the wrong epoxy? Is this reef safe? |

I'm not entirely sure but I suspect it contains copper of some other algaecide for use on pools and such. Hence the potable water warning. I'd stick with super glue gel myself.

marine in that context usually refers to resisting the corrosive effects of saltwater - a huge problem with boats and the primary reason that materials for boats are so expensive. i would definitely not use it because of the potable water warning. get some epoxy from your LFS or use super glue gel as was previously mentioned. The stuff I have is a putty that is green on the outside and white on the inside, you mash it together until it's uniform in color and it sets up in about 7 minutes.
