Plumbing in a sump/pump in basement.

Well, I'm sure this has been done before...but I couldn't find it. So, I'll ask anyway. My new 75g I am setting up is right above where I am going to setup my sump/refuge(in the basement). I'll even have plenty of room for ro/di and misc. What I need to know is, the distance from my sump to my aquariums top is 9'5"...do I need to include any bends/t's in my figuring for head pressure on the pump? Also, can anyone recommend a good/economical pump for this? And should I used submerged and what are the pros/cons of submerged or dry?
Thanks
John
