Questions about PC lighting
I've never had one of these but I just got a 4ft 4x96w Hamilton PC fixture for my 75gal refugium. I have questions:
1. It seems built to just rest across the plastic frame. It has a shield between the bulbs and the tank. Is that plastic center brace going to be ok? 2. The sockets look like they are marked 2 for actinics, 2 for daylight. Since this is on a fuge, I have no need for actinics. Can I put 4 daylights, or heck even just run 2? Each switch appears to run 1 actinic and 1 daylight. So it would mean putting a daylight into a socket marked actinic. I can't understand why the socket would mind what color temp bulb I put in.... Thanks in advance. Joel

Yes you can go ahead and put daylight or 6500K PC in the sockets for the actinics the fixture will have no clue and doesn't really care what temp the bulb is. As for the center brace it should be ok but I would probably suspend the unit an inch or 2 off the top.
