do I have to balance drain pipes?

Do I have to balance my drain pipes?
I have a corner overflow with two holes drilled in the bottom. one is 1.5" and the other 3/4". I was going to open up the 3/4" to 1.5 like the other one and run the return over the back. I ran across a thread on oceans motions that mentioned something about balancing them to keep tham quiet. I assumed that If plumbed them Durso style they would automatically be silent, no matter how many I had.
