Octopus Recirculating out of sump
I'm currently using a CSS 125 on my 58 gallon, with no sump. I have a hang on back refugium, currently, that the pump to the css sits inside of. The CSS is not hanging on the back of the refugium. Instead, I have a shelf behind the tank, that the skimmer is sitting on top of. (The skimmer is setup "hob style", but the shelf is set high enough to take the full weight of the skimmer).
Anyways, I'm tired of adjusting the skimmer constantly. It doesn't skim very well unless I'm tinkering nonstop. Also causes a little bit of anxiety when I leave my place for a weekend. So my question is, would it be possible to rig a recirculating skimmer this way? Have it sit on the shelf, with a maxijet 1200 sitting in the fuge feeding the skimmer, with the output from the skimmer going back into the fuge (downstream)? |
