Light Canopy length vs tank length
Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some quick comments on length of light canopy vs the length of the tank. Right now, I have a single 175W MH and 2x50W PC over my 36" tank. Canopy is 36"long, so the PC's are evenly distibuted over the length of the tank. I am upgrading my lighting to 1x250W HCI, and T5's. Question is, how important will it be to stay with the 36" canopy? Not an issue with the MH, as I am moving from one 175W bulb in the centre to one 250W bulb in the centre. Question is, will there be adverse effect to losing 6" of atinic light on each end of the tank? Hight of Canopy above the water is about 6" Comments would be appreciated. Jason |

Whoops,
I am sorry.... I forgot to mention that the one model I am looking at is the Giesemann infiniti, which has 4x24W T'5's, but is only 24" long (they don't make a 36" version). The other model is the Aquactinics MH/T5 combo, which has 2x39WT5's, but is 36" long (also 2x175W MH as opposed to the single 250W that I would prefer, so that is a different issue). Problem could be getting the Aquactinics here in Canada, so I may be forced to choose the Giesemann. Or, do you know of a single 250W MH with T5's that comes in 36"? Thanks very much |
