question about LR curing

I'm still pretty new to the hobby and I bought around 70lb or more of LR for my 90g tank.I got it from someone in my same city less than 15 mins away.It was placed in coolers and probably stayed out of the water 30 mins total.I placed it directly in my tank and I'm having alot of die-off when I goto clean the rock with a turkey baster every few days.I get tons of debris blowing around the tank.Should I remove the pieces and twist then around in a bucket of water to keep all the junk out of the water? It seems to clear up after it settles but I'd rather keep the debris down to a minimum even though I run a skimmer 24/7. I'm guessing I should have made sure all the parameters such as temp were the same but I didn't even think about it.Some of the rocks have xenia and red/blue mushrooms on them and they seem to be doing great after 2 weeks since the transfer.got them for 2 bucks a lb including the shrooms, etc growing on them so I'm pretty pleased with them minus the junk. BTW, a couple of rocks have some white (deadish) looking spots in corners but I'm hoping this is just from low flow since won't be able to add a couple of powerheads until this weekend. I have a wavemaker up top and two return tubes blowing water towards the rocks until then. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

you sure it's die off and not just low flow causing stuff to settle in your tank? If those xenia and shrooms look okay I think the rocks fine. have you noticed a nitrite or ammonia spike? If not, then it's not die-off happening.

What are you using to measure your ammonia to get such a precise measurement?

Thanks
Brad

it's my test kit.I forgot the name of it but could check if you really want to know.It shows a color chart in green shades and the water looked exactly like 0.1 after 20 minutes (which it says to wait that long). the 0.0 looked lighter. I'm sure 0.1 isn't a big deal but will be glad when it hits full 0 to be able to post it in my stats with pride

If you don't mind and you get a chance, could you check to see what brand it is. I currently have a Salifert one and the scale on the little card only contains <0.5, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and >2. The one you have sounds more precise.

Thanks
Brad
