Cleaning mh
I was wondering if there is a safe way to clean a single ended mh bulb. I have heard about it exploding in tanks and so forth? I just got one from a friend and it has salt on it.

I clean mine when they have cooled off with soapy water, making sure I don't get the metal end wet. I rinse them off with ro/di water, then thoroughly dry them.

also with single ended bulbs do I need to put a cover between water and light? If so what materials would be best for it

No cover is needed with the single ended bulbs. I try to keep mine high enough so water doesn't splash the bulbs.
