Angry Home sweet home or not?!

Hi all,
As you can see my clown found a home in my flowerpot coral. He was about to love it to death. I decided to bite the bullet and get him a new home. I purchased this BTA today. The BTA and his new friends are very happy. I too was very happy when the clowns took to this immediately. I am soooooooo lucky. Thes are not the best pictures but they will have to do
Before

After

How long have you had the flowerpot? Good Luck with it, very difficult to keep over time.

Hi, I remember you had a thread about your flowerpot and I posted a pic of mine. Well, it turned out that my paired perculas started messing with my goni. My goni was not amused. It did not like to extend it's polyps anymore. I bought a bubble tip anemone for them hoping they would leave the poor goni alone. They were curious at first, inspecting the anemone but never really went hosting. They insisted they liked my goni better. Needless to say, they are now in "jail" (my QT tank) for harrassment . I plan on giving them probation in four weeks hoping they will be reformed. Now my goni is coming back, polyps aren't as long as before. I guess it will take time for it to trust it's surroundings again. Hope yours will stay with the bubble tip.

i moved the flower pot to a portion of the tank where my original clown was not overtly interested. I also bought a small clown to pair with my lone female. I really think this has helped as the young clown led the way an jumped right in.
I hope my plan works. If not It was suggested to me that i should place a container...strawberry holder etc. over the goni so the clown can't host. The thought of course is the clown will get fed up and look to host elsewhere. the clowns have been in the BTA all day so I am going to be positive and hope my situation is solved

how much flow do you give your BTA? I cut my flow down some recently. I use two tunze 6100 on my 180 at half blast. this gives me about 3170 gallon/hr turn over from these alone. I don't want to blast him away. I have mostly lps, zoo,s mushrooms and a leather or two.

I did move the goni to the opposite side of the tank and placed the BTA near the original spot where the goni was. Guess what, the clowns followed the goni on the other side. I moved it back and forth twice but the clowns followed my poor goni and completely ignored my BTA. I was very ticked off. I felt I had to save my goni so the clowns had to be disciplined. They were not funny anymore

Fancyfish... I saw your other thread, and knew that would happen.

Your bta looks better than most. You can see how dark it is. most anemones that I see in the lfs are bleached.
I have heard that wholesalers/collectors put them in the dark to bleach them because no one wants to buy anything that even hints at being brown. Truely sad.

Good lunk with your (healthy) anemone And don't forget to feed it.

BTW Im sure the good folks over on the anemone & clownfish forum would like to see your BTA.

For flow they like to be snuggled in live rock and stick thier tenticles out in the flow.

I do not blame you. The Goni is so delicate and beautiful. I wonder what would happen if you qt them with your BTA. maybe they will host and you can then somehow get them in the tank together and the fish will already be familiar with the BTA? just a thought. I am thinking we can outsmart a couple of clowns!!!

Good idea fancyfish. However, I have hippo tangs under QT with them and are undergoing hypo right now. I don't think the BTA will be amused by hypo.
