Proper Disposal
What exactly do you guys do with a dead inhabitant? We are anticipating the death of a red serpent star - he is disintegrating, still moving but has almost no legs left.
We believe we didn't acclimate him properly..... Very sad... |

Everything in the bin, if you put fish down the toilet you could release what ever killed your fish in to the ocean. If the fish is wild caught and has come from another part of the world to where you live there could be all sorts of parasites that your local waters aren't used to IMO

I live in a city our sewage goes through intensive treatment with chemicals and that would kill anything living in it.

Thanks... I would rather they just melt away and the clean up crew take care of it.... hopefully we won't witness it..
It's been 5 days... not sure how much longer he'll survive... poor thing -- we feel very very bad.... and learned an important lesson -- NO impulse buying -- research first and alot! |

That wont work with a fish, it could possibly cuase a huge ammonia spike and wipe out your entire tank.

I just wrap dead fish in a couple paper towels and place them in the garbage...
If you have Nassarius snails they'll practically eat your animals as they take their last breath... Mine seem to know who's dead and eat them before I even discover them... |
