How level does stand need to be?
I built my stand and now have my tank sitting on top of it. The top back of the tank is 1/8" further from the wall then the bottom back of the tank is. I leveled it the best I could. Should I worry too much??
Thanks, Josh |

Lots of threads on that topic about a month ago, some of them a bit heated (for this forum). Consensus from people who seemed to know what they were talking about was that the most important thing is that the tank not be twisted at all. In other words, that 1/8" difference should hold all along the back, and there should be a similar difference in the front, all along the front (you could use a plumb bob to see that).
Also, you want to level the stand on the floor, not the tank in the stand. The point there is that the stand should support the tank frame evenly all the way around. Now, as to whether a 1/8 inch off level is significant enough to worry about, well, what size tank? From there, I'll sit back and watch the flame war erupt

Man I would use some shims or something to try and level it, It may work now but who knows, six months from now it cracks and spills 150 gallons of water on the floor.
Just my 2 cents? |
