I'm confused... Where exactly is it leaking? Overflow? Bulkhead? Leaking on floor or passing water through and into the overflow?

What is leaking ? The overflow or bulkheads ? Is it an external overflow?

It might not be that bad once you get your standpipe in there. If you make sure to seal the standpipe the best you can, the tank can't drain any lower than the top of the standpipe during a power outage.

If it were me, I would drain the tank and make sure it was right so I didn't loose sleep over it later But that's my OCD talking!
