Unhappy Tang sliced my Rabbitfish! (pics)

Yesterday I added a 4" Clown Tang to my 180g. This caused some jockying between the Sailfin, Powder Brown and Scribbled Rabbitfish.

Last night the Rabbitfish looked fine. I think it happened after lights out or some time this morning. I didn't see it happen so not sure exactly what happened. It looks like a gash from one of the tangs I think. Not sure what I should do, the Rabbitfish seems to be swimming and eating normally and is otherwise very healthy.

I had that exact same thing happen to my sailfin. Sailfin was in the tank first by 6 months or so. I put a Kole in and they went at it. I thought the Kole being half the size would be in trouble but to my suprise the sailfin lost the fight. After the fight their were never any problems. The slash which was alot worse than that healed up fast, less than 2 weeks. I think you're fine.

I agree with the others but just watch to amke sure thedo not pick on him because of the injury, then you may have to worry about isolation or removal

My Yellow Tang and Kole Tang get into some minor fights once in a while. It seems like the Kole Tang gets the worst of it. Usually, the wounds heal up in a few days.

Cool, I'm glad to hear that fish typically recover from this. I was freaking when I saw it this morning. But the rabbitfish is acting totally normal except that he seems a little more on edge. He flairs up his spikes more often.

I don't know about rabbit fish....tangs heal up really fast though. A couple of wounds on my yellow tangs were deep enough I thought I saw guts.

They always heal within a week or two.

I had a pajama cardinal that got one whole belly fin tore off...it still hasn't grown back all the way yet (5 months) it's about 3/4 back.

The strangest thing i've seen was a blue chromis' mouth locked open then fell off after a couple weeks...then grew back. Believe it or not.

Ack that's pretty disgusting! I have a one eyed royal gramma, came to me that way as a LR hitchiker. Pretty creepy when it's got that empty eye socket pointing at you...

My Tangs get in a squabble once in awhile but it heals up. So don't worry, just keep an eye on him incase it gets worse. But should heal up, but expect the gashes if you have tangs in the tank.
