The only thing I am worried about is getting the hole in the cover centered at the top

Buy 1 MJ mod and you can push water better on 1 MJ.
Learn to make them yourself and you can push water better for the rest of your life on as many as you want. Or something like that LOL.

WIth the bell style shrouds, and a dumas 3004, I'd guess 3000-3500 gph.
They kick the crap out of my tunze.

Would I need two on a 150 or only one? I will have about 700 g per hour for my return pump with it

Hey Joshsmith56001,
I just noticed you are from Lake Crystal, I am originally from Mankato. I was just in St James a month ago, have the lakes froze yet? And is anyone ice fishing?

If you have sand I would go with the medium flow kits or the octura props... the highflow kit with the dumas prop is nearly impossible to run without blowing sand everywhere. It also depends on what you're keeping. If your BB keeping SPS then you might as well go with the highflows.

I have sand and I am going to have SPS. The lakes have frozen over. Kind of iffy at this point though. Got warm for awhile and they starteed to thaw again.

These things are real simple to build. I am building a few for some ppl in my club for frags, takes me about 30-45min to build one using simple hand tools and a crappy mitre saw. I have one in my 75gal using the octura 1435 and it still blows the sand around. These things rock.

I built my own and bought one. I'd spend the money and buy one again if I had to.

For me i'd rather build one for 5 bucks and spend the other $25 i save on beer to drink while i build it
Of course if i drink it too fast then the build doesn't come out right and i'm out more $$ LOL but thats a risk i'm willing to take.

Buy it, they are cheap. And they look darn nice. Not worth my time to build my own and screw up a few times.

has anyone modded a maxi 900 medium flow? and if so, would this be TOO much flow for my 40 gallon (36in length). I have lps, zoos, shrooms, and leathers?

I had the same question Rawskyje. Does anyone know if you can dial one down a little by plugging it in to an outlet controlled by a dimmer switch? I'm thinking the same way that you reduce voltage to a light to dim it, you could reduce voltage to the pump to turn it slower. Bad idea?
