2 1/2 Years after move/crash.
Well I moved my aquarium with the help of ten local reefers about 2 1/2 years ago. Here is what it looked like before:
Feb. 2004 Most of those corals were lost in the move. Very unfortunate. I had a mound of dead coral skeletons in the back yard. I almost threw in the towel. But after a couple of years, it has grown back with the help of some friends. Of course there were some purchases as well! I guess if you love the hobby, don't give up when the hard times hit. Thanks everyone. I do miss the big corals from the old tank. My big table is now bleached white and in our china cabinet display case. At least we can still enjoy it in some way.
I still use the same method as the TOTM article. The only things that I have changed are the brand of additives. I went the cheap route with the "Randy" recipes. It is nice to have 50# bags of additives. Although after seeing some of these tanks on this forum and the systems they use, I am always tempted. The green fuzzy coral in the front left is a branching Briareum sp. Basically a green star polyp that columns instead of encrusts. It does encrust some, but the main growth is up like an sps coral. I lost a giant montipora cap species due to green star polyps encrusting from the bottom. After seeing this species, I had to have it. Here is a closer picture: fishfanatic- I live in Highlands Ranch. We have about 13" of snow right now. It is a good time for a water change since we won't be going anywhere for a while. You are welcome to come by to visit anytime. Just send me a pm. I don't know what the myth about 20k bulbs and non-growth is all about. I use Radiums, which are actually 18k I think I read somewhere. Just one of those "not broken, don't fix" things. Cris |

This tank is even more amazing in person. Not only does Cris have what it takes to maintain an incredible tank, but is also very good at helping others with his knowledge.I have to admit my tank looks better because of what I have learned from Cris. Most of my corals came from frags of the ones he has in his.
