lighting question

I have a 55 reef with mostly softies a few sps and a crocrea clam, right now i run a 48" 150w de mh from 10-5:30 which i hang 9" above tank. Once that goes off i throw on a 48" dual t5 with just pure 420 actinic. It is just a hassel because i cant leave the t5 strip on the tank so i have to put it on everyday and take it off in the morning im in college and work so sometimes it doesnt work out like i plan. So i was wondering and would like to hear some imput about changing over to a nova extreme pro 6x54 light fixture.

You should look into the Aquactinics TX5, TEK Elite, AquacticLife T5 fixtures. The first two I have experience with, are great fixtures, if you get high quality bulbs you won't have an issue keeping LPS, Softies, Clams, some SPS higher up.

I have my 55g reef on timer and run an Aquactinics TX5 with 4 ATI's and 1 KZ bulb. I have had great growth with all my LPS, Softies, I had 2 Maxima clams that did great also on the sandbed. I just swapped one out but my blue one is growing great. Also, I dose ALK/CA/MG to keep all params steady.

You can see a vid of my reef here: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1907450
